The most common use of potentiometers is the volume control in various audio source devices, or the control of various levels and powers in electronic equipment .It can also be used as a position or angle sensor, or as a tungsten light bulb.Control elements of the optical or electric wire power conditioner,etc.

However,some uses ,such as the latter in the previous examples,typically use a potentiometer in the form of a two-terminal varistor(rheostat).
